The name "Frost" is a tribute to my creative genes--it's a family name, and I believe, the origin of all things handmade and self-taught. My great-grandfather was a wood worker, his wife a seamstress and knitter, and my grandmother is a watercolorist, a silversmith, and a leather worker. It doesn't skip a generation with my mother, who is a painter, jewelry designer, and ceramic artist, and although she barely touches the sewing machine now, she once made almost all of my clothes.
 
So I come by crafting through genes and natural curiosity. My mother taught me to crochet when I was 12 or so, but I really started working with crochet when I was 16. My mother also taught me to sew, and the basics of wire work. I've taught myself to knit, to felt, to spin, and beading and embroidery, through copious amounts of research and reading. Whatever may be the initial spark of inspiration, all of my products are my own design--I would say it's just as much because I hate following patterns as any other reason!
